Sumner skatepark to finally re-open

Back in August, the Tacoma News Tribune published this piece on South End skateparks and explored their successes and failures.  It was about as good of a case study for good site selection and design as we’ve had around these parts.

Today, the Sumner Parks Department announced that it would be re-opening the troubled skatepark with some new improvements, many of which would not have been needed had they built the skatepark in a better location in the first place.

Let’s hope this time the community gets behind the skaters and makes this re-birth of the Sumner park a successful move.
