Ken Schram meditates on SeaSk8

061101_schrammie.jpgEditorial journalist Ken Schram awarded City Councilmember Tom Rasmussen with one of his notorious Schrammie Awards today, in honor of Councilmember Rasmussen’s eleventh-hour political roadblock of the vote on the new SeaSk8 site. (video)

Schram lambastes Rasmussen for identifying the proposed skatepark site as a needed place for “contemplative respite”, and for doing so after three of his colleagues on the PELL committee had put in a ton of work getting skaters, the Seattle Center, and the Century 21 Committee on-board.

What he didn’t mention was that the new Vera Project space, which hosts all-age music performances, is already located right next to the proposed skatepark location.

Regardless, It’s awesome to see the media supporting skaters, especially after the disparaging Times article earlier this week that represented skaters as art killers.

All we want to know is: what’s up with the first few frames of that video? Crack kills!
