West Seattle Summerfest: Skateopia!

The West Seattle Summerfest Skatepark was a huge success this year, and a great opportunity for advocates to get the word out. We also gathered 600 signatures on our petition which is huge!

Thanks to everyone who came out to support this cause. The big take-away from this event was that the vast majority of the people who walked by our booth supported safe public places for kids to skate.

There were some great comments/themes that we heard repeatedly:

• “Where else are kids supposed to go if we don’t give them a safe place”
• “It’s better than having them skating in my front yard”
• “I think it’s great…it’s healthy and active”
• “Better than Xbox…gets them off their butts”

Once again, great job West Seattle in supporting local public skateparks!
