SeaSk8 meeting #2 – Thursday

Newline and Van Der Zalm will be presenting the design concepts they produced using the input they received at the first meeting. This will be another chance for you to give them feedback / fight for a giant bowl / tell the old guys to go away and let you skate street.

The last meeting was somewhat poorly attended and there has been some debate about what will go into this park. If you have any interest in what will be Seattle’s most high profile skatepark, you owe it to yourself to attend this meeting:

Date: Thursday, May 8

Time: 6:30-8PM

Where: Seattle Center Shaw Room

  1. Maybe skateornot should post that same tired comparison on every Seattle skateboard related website.

    Oh wait. He did….

  2. a) Bowls aren’t just for old guys. The kids at our table last meeting wanted a bowl.
    b) This is a replacement park. The old park had bowl and street.
    c) skateornot’s analogy = you need a break from the internet. Get in the real world.
    d) Skate street only all day if you want, but quit trying to steal our skatepark! Let’s share the space, its only fair.

  3. The comparison makes perfect sense. Street skating has been a natural evolution of skateboarding since the 70s. You can’t argue that.

It took a long time for many parts of the U.S. to get commercial broadband in their neighborhoods. Many people were stuck with archaic connection speeds of 28.8 kps. Just like those stuck on dial-up waiting for their town to get broadband, so are modern day skateboarders awaiting the arrival of a plaza in their town.

  4. Skateboarding started with street skating. Your analogy doesn’t hold it’s own bits in it’s own bit bucket.
