SeaSk8 Meeting Tonight – 6:30pm

nov15_mtg.jpgTonight is the first public meeting for the replacement SeaSk8 skatepark at the Pavilion A site southeast of Key Arena. The meeting will be held at at the Seattle Center, Center House Conference Room A, at 6:30pm.

The purpose of the meeting is to provide an opportunity for the public to give comments on the new design and location. This meeting also fulfills the public meeting requirement under the State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA). Download the agenda for the meeting here. Public comment will begin sharply at 7:15pm (the comment sign up start at 6:30pm – please arrive then to make sure there is still space for your comments) following a background of the project. The length of time allotted for each public comment will be determined based on the number of people that sign up for comment.

As part of the project SEPA permitting process, the public (per public comments) and Seattle Center will need to document the potential impacts caused by the project. It is my understanding that permit reviewers will rely heavily on the SEPA checklist during their review – the checklist is attached for your reference. It would be great if you could integrate the positive environmental impacts (e.g., grey to partial green conversion, more efficient stormwater management, decreased energy consumption, planting of native plants, increased recreational activities, etc.) created by this project during your public comment.

If you cannot make the meeting, YOU CAN STILL PROVIDE PUBLIC COMMENT VIA EMAIL by November 16, 2007 to joan.rosenstock@seattle.gov .

Some people will be meeting early in the Center House starting around 5:30-6pm to talk further about this project – please show up and meet some folks.
