Hey Todd!
If there was any skate park issue that we needed your help on...it's this one. You're the best candidate to make sure Roxhill is all that it can be- a local dad who frickin rips and still craves bigger and progressive features.
I'm going to the Interview meeting for Judkins skate park this afternoon and will get more info about Roxhill (hopefully).
Can I pass on your name to Parks to be involved with the process?
Hope to see you around soon!

Hi Todd,

Thanks for your comment. To clarify:

1) Roxhill will be a skatespot and has $600K from the Parks and Green Spaces Levy

2) The SPAC does not get to mark anything or give budget to anything. We are just a committee that makes recommendations like this one. Usually, Parks supports us and we support Parks, but this is not the case at this skatespot.

3) I believe that this deal is not in the best interests of skaters. Please review the most recent post on this site for more details on the rationale.

4) Yes, the appointees on these committees almost always include people who skate and/or are local stakeholders. Unfortunately, in the case of Roxhill, Mayor McGinn does not skate and Rob Dyrdek is not a local stakeholder.

I have been skateboarding since 1986. I am also a father of two (4 & 5 years) boys rooted in this neighborhood. My family frequents the Roxhill park, and I often walk around the park dreaming of an amazing skate spot to call home. I want the best skate park possible at Roxhill.

Unfortunately I do not have high hopes for this site. Last time I looked, the SPAC had marked the Roxhill site as a "Skate Dot" giving it the smallest budget for any city skate park. Given the cost of building in Seattle, I am picturing 10 feet of sidewalk and a curb.

I have not read any details of the deal with the Dyrdek Foundation, but I did watch the press conference with Dyrdek and the Mayor. That lead me to believe that features from the "Street League" contest @ Key Arena (mostly rails) where going to be donated to the Roxhill project. Not JUST the design time from California Skateparks. Can someone tell me exactly what was donated?

It seems to me we should not reject any donation if we already have a tiny budget for this project... and no offense, but who appointed the Parks appointed Consultant Selection Committee? Does the Parks appointed Consultant Selection Committee skate?
